Something a Little Fishy is Going On Here

1/2

This is may be the most unusual of pairs, but when I saw them next to each other on my computer, something just clicked. Who would have though polk-a-dots and fish tails would go so nicely together?

Wardrobe Wednesday

1/2/3

If I had my dream imaginary closet and hair that would grow and change texture with my moods I would wear this outfit and hair for a casual day in the city. Maybe some food trucks and a little shopping? Ah, now that sounds like perfection...

this or that...

44th Hill

1/2/3/4

My newest obsession is the environmental graphic design firm 44th Hill. Working as an environmental graphic designer I am constantly getting distracted by signs and special interiors online and on the street.

When I found the 44th Hill design firm website I was mesmerized. So many beautiful interiors. I especially love the use of natural wood. All of the spaces have a unique feeling that seems to play off of the individual spaces. I hope to someday work for or with the firm. Just one more reason to move to london.

Stripes, Stripes, Stripes

Clearly, I'm crazy over stripes. I wear them constantly, and make gawker noises when I see them in stores. This being said it makes sense that I would want them in my new house in some way right?

The easiest way to incorporate stripes seems to be carpets, which I have to admit is appealing because if I ever decide I hate stripes, which lets be honest is a possibility (I mean I used to have a fairy themed bedroom people) you can just buy a new rug. Poof, stripe obsession gone.

But I am also really enjoying some of the other stripe applications. Especially the headboard and the stair runner. I guess those are also replaceable. Whew, looks like I can get rid of the stripes as easily as I got rid of the fairies.

Wallpaper Obsession

I recently developed an obsession with wallpaper. Enough said.

March Pantry

While perusing the internet, and pinning away on Pinterest, I found this wonderful store here in San Francisco called March Pantry. Brian, my boyfriend, thought about being a chef for awhile before settling into industrial design, but despite going in a different direction in his education he still loves cooking. He especially loves things that you use in the kitchen. Basically I knew that he would love this store.

It is beautiful. White interiors, gorgeous wood cabinets, and interesting impressionist like paintings of meat on the wall. I was mostly enamored with the sign outside and product packaging. Apparently the product designer, who also created the typeface, won an award last weekend. See the design firms take on the designing the typeface on there blog.

Anyway, if you live in the area or plan on taking a trip and enjoy beautiful interiors and lovely people (the shop worker talked to me for a good 20 minutes) stop by March Pantry.

Kitchen Love

1/2/3/4

Everyone in the house loves to cook, well that is a bit of a lie, I don't, but everyone else does. For this reason the kitchen redesign is getting a lot of attention. We are all enamored with the idea of white cabinets and open shelves, but none of us are that interested in cleaning the fingerprints and dirt off of them daily.

So, we are looking for different options that give the same clean and contemporary look. Above are some of our ideas so far. Our kitchen and dining room are going to be together much like the top picture, as well as part of the living room in a way. Secretly everyone is hoping that if I can watch tv while I cook that I will show more interest in cooking.

The House As Is

Here are some photos of the house as promised. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to upload photos to the blog. Anyone have any suggestions? We get the first set of plans back from the architect today. I'm so excited to see what he did with our ideas. I believe these plans are just for the downstairs, since we are planning on remodeling the downstairs, moving in, and then building a second story. I'll share the plans once we get them.

The Beginning

This is a blog mostly about four people trying to remodel and decorate a house. It will also probably become a place for me to share my love (meaning obsession) with design, food, clothes, and crafts.

So perhaps you would like to know something about me? Alright, alright, I cave I'll tell you something. No need to be so persistent. I'm a recent UC Davis graduate, with a major in graphic design. I live in San Francisco and work at the San Jose Airport as an environmental graphic designer.

Yes, I work near airplanes (it is actually kind of cool for the first couple months). Now a little about the house. It is located on the cliffs of Daly City, and is currently a single story house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Photos of the house as it is will come next. Till next time...
